The optimal time offsets are determined by means of simulation and optimisation. For simulation a cell transmission model especially prepared for urban street networks is applied. A genetic algorithm is implemented to achieve optimal results.

CeTRANS provides a user interface to the optimization kernel. The easy-to-use user interface processes the incoming data necessary (information with respect to links, nodes and signal controllers as well as global parameters). The results are visualised in CeTRANS.
