The SchulwegPlaner (planner to choose the safest way to school) is a new internet platform www.schulwegplaner.de where ways to school, which are standardised nationwide, can be generated by registered users (open to all internet users, Web 2.0 concept). After authorisation of the generated routes to school by the local authorities concerned, these plans for the way to school can be published on the internet portal.

The internet portal serves as the entrance to generate a plan for the way to school. After having been registered and confirmed the user is able to search their school or list a new school the user wishes to generate a plan for.

The software necessary can be downloaded and installed locally after registration. The internet portal provides maps for the users which can be used commonly. The software for SchulwegPlaner is an easy and self-explanatory tool which can be used without detailed computer knowledge. When starting the program the user chooses his dedicated school and the maps or already locally edited data will be imported from the server. Completed plans are provided on the website in pdf-format after final authorisation.
